  • Rental-application or reservation information, such as identification, employment or assignment information, income verification, references, and emergency-contact information, when reasonably necessary for a proposed stay.

  • Transaction information, such as the amount and status of a payment. Full payment-card information is generally collected and processed by the applicable payment processor rather than Sterling House.

  • Your newsletter and marketing preferences.

  • Feedback, reviews, or other information you voluntarily provide.

Please do not submit Social Security numbers, complete bank-account information, medical records, or other highly sensitive information through a general website inquiry form. When such information is legitimately required for screening or a reservation, we will provide an appropriate method or direct you to an authorized service provider.

Information Collected Automatically

When you visit the website, Sterling House and its service providers may automatically collect technical and usage information, including:

  • Internet Protocol address.

  • Pages viewed, links selected, referring pages, and dates and times of access.

  • Cookie identifiers and similar technical information.

Information From Other Sources

We may receive information from booking platforms, referral partners, housing coordinators, payment processors, identity-verification or screening providers, social-media services, and other parties involved in an inquiry or reservation.

2. How We Use Information

We may use personal information to:

  • Evaluate and process applications in accordance with applicable housing and other laws.

  • Prepare rental documents and administer reservations.

  • Process payments and maintain transaction records.

  • Provide guest support, maintenance coordination, safety communications, and other services associated with a stay.

3. Cookies and Similar Technologies

The website is hosted through Wix and may use cookies and similar technologies to provide essential functionality, maintain security, remember preferences, measure website performance, and understand visitor activity.

Cookies may include:

  • Essential cookies, which support security and basic website functionality.

  • Functional cookies, which remember selections and preferences.

  • Analytics cookies, which help us understand website use and performance.

  • Marketing cookies, if enabled in the future, which may measure campaigns or help provide more relevant advertising.

Where available, you may use the website’s cookie settings to accept or decline nonessential cookies. You may also manage cookies through your browser settings. Disabling certain cookies may affect website functionality.

Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” setting. Because there is not a uniform standard for these signals, the website may not respond to every Do Not Track request. Sterling House will honor legally recognized browser-based privacy signals when required by applicable law.

4. How We Disclose Information

We may disclose personal information to the following categories of recipients when reasonably necessary:

  • Wix and other website-hosting, information-technology, analytics, communications, and security providers.

  • Booking platforms, housing-placement services, referral partners, and property-management providers.

  • Payment processors, banks, and accounting providers.

  • Identity-verification, credit, background-screening, or application-processing providers, subject to any separate authorization required by law.

  • Contractors and service providers assisting with maintenance, cleaning, guest support, or business operations, but only to the extent reasonably necessary.

  • Attorneys, accountants, insurers, and other professional advisers.

  • Government agencies, courts, law-enforcement authorities, or other parties when disclosure is required or permitted by law.

  • A purchaser, successor, or other relevant party in connection with a possible sale, financing, reorganization, or transfer of the business or property.

We do not sell personal information for monetary compensation. We do not knowingly use personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. If our practices change, we will update this policy and provide any choices required by law.

5. Third-Party Platforms and Links

The website may contain links to booking platforms, maps, social-media services, review pages, or other third-party websites. Sterling House does not control those parties’ privacy or security practices. Information submitted directly to a third party is governed by that party’s policies and terms.

When a reservation is made through Airbnb, Furnished Finder, or another outside platform, that platform may independently collect and process personal information.

6. Marketing Communications

We will send promotional emails or newsletters only as permitted by law and, where required, with your consent. You may unsubscribe by using the link included in a marketing email or by contacting us.

Even after you unsubscribe from promotional communications, we may continue sending nonpromotional messages concerning an inquiry, application, reservation, stay, payment, safety issue, or legal obligation.

7. Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including providing requested services, maintaining rental and transaction records, resolving disputes, enforcing agreements, and satisfying tax, accounting, insurance, and legal requirements.

Retention periods vary according to the type of information, the nature of the relationship, and applicable legal requirements.

8. Information Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures intended to protect personal information. However, no website, transmission method, or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

You are responsible for using appropriate caution when transmitting information electronically and for notifying us if you believe that an interaction with Sterling House may no longer be secure.

9. Your Privacy Choices and Rights

You may contact us to:

  • Ask what personal information we maintain about you.

  • Request correction or deletion of information.

  • Request a copy of certain information.

Additional rights may be available under the law of your state or country. We will honor applicable rights subject to permitted exceptions and may request information needed to verify your identity or authority to act for another person.

We will not unlawfully discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right.

10. Children’s Privacy

The website and Sterling House rental services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13. A parent or legal guardian who believes that a child has submitted personal information may contact us to request its deletion.

11. International Visitors

Sterling House is located in California, and information may be processed or stored in the United States or in other locations where our service providers operate. Privacy protections in those locations may differ from those in your home jurisdiction.
